New Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 Launch: What’s New and What’s Not?

As anticipation builds for Samsung’s latest innovations, the tech giant is poised to release its next generation of foldable smartphones—the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Expected to hit the market in mid-year, these devices follow the heels of the slimmer and highly capable Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Despite the success of their predecessor, it appears that the upcoming models may not showcase significant advancements.

According to sources close to the matter, while the current generation maintains the impressive engineering showcased by the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, major enhancements are likely reserved for the subsequent versions. A Fastprint executive, representing the first supplier of High-Density Interconnect (HDI) technology for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series, hinted in a recent interview with China’s Fastprint that significant updates will more likely appear with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Sales Projections and Market Strategy

Samsung has ambitious plans for its foldable line, expecting to sell 7 million units of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. This target is set against the backdrop of a broader strategy to rejuvenate sales which, despite past successes, have faltered in the post-pandemic market. The electronics giant plans to sell around 230 million smartphones this year, aiming to recover from a slump that saw numbers fall from over 300 million in 2019 to around 222 million last year.

The Bigger Picture: Samsung’s Broader Strategy

The foldable devices are just one part of Samsung’s comprehensive product strategy. The company is also focusing heavily on its flagship Galaxy S25 series, which includes the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Following the Galaxy S24’s strong performance with 35 million units sold last year, surpassing the Galaxy S23 series, the S25 lineup is projected to do even better. Samsung forecasts sales of 37 million units for the S25 series this year alone, potentially exceeding the popular Galaxy S10 series.

As the tech leader continues to innovate, balancing between upgrades and new releases, it remains a significant player in the competitive world of smartphones. With foldables like the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7, Samsung is not just betting on current trends but also setting the stage for the next wave of mobile technology advancements. As we look towards the release of these intriguing devices, the question remains: will they live up to the hype, or are the best innovations still on the horizon?
