Samsung's Next Big Move: One UI 7 Promises Exciting New Features and Major Upgrades

Samsung’s Next Big Move as One UI 7 Promises Exciting New Features and Major Upgrades. Long gone are the days when a horizontal app drawer was the norm. Users have been clamoring for a vertical scrolling app drawer, similar to what has been standard on other Android devices since Marshmallow. This user-friendly feature would make it easier to navigate and find apps quickly without the need to swipe through multiple pages.

Rumors suggest Samsung might finally introduce this much-requested feature in One UI 7.

Multiple Lock and Home Screen Setups

Taking a page from Apple’s playbook, Samsung users are now looking forward to the possibility of having multiple lock and home screen setups in One UI 7. This feature would allow users to switch between setups based on the time of day or occasion, much like changing watch faces on a smartwatch.

Including more customization options for the lock screen and support for third-party widgets would further enhance user personalization and convenience.

Battery and Storage Health Monitoring

Acknowledging the long-term commitment to their devices, Samsung plans to extend Android update support for up to seven years for its flagship devices, akin to Google’s approach with the Pixel series.

To complement this, a feature for monitoring battery and storage health is highly anticipated. This would empower users to keep tabs on their device’s battery condition and storage degradation over time, thus better-managing device longevity.

Innovative Security with App Sandbox

Security remains a paramount concern, especially when installing apps from unknown sources. An App Sandbox feature would be a welcome addition, providing a safe environment where apps could run with limited permissions, ensuring they don’t compromise system integrity or user privacy.

Enhanced Pro Mode in Camera

Samsung’s Pro Mode is already a hit among photography enthusiasts, but there’s always room for improvement. Users are hoping for direct access to settings like grid lines and image format toggles (RAW or JPEG) from the camera viewfinder itself, rather than navigating through layers of settings.

This enhancement would streamline the photography process, making it more intuitive and efficient.

Customizable Icons and Quick Settings Panel

As customization is key in One UI, users are also expecting more flexibility in icon customization — allowing changes in shape, size, and color directly through the system settings without relying on third-party apps like GoodLock.

Moreover, a redesign of the Quick Settings panel to make it more one-hand-friendly and customizable would align better with the overall user interface design philosophy of One UI.

Samsung One UI 7: Looking Ahead

With Android 15 laying the groundwork, One UI 7 is poised to bring these user-requested features and more, enhancing the Samsung smartphone experience. The anticipation for One UI 7 is building, especially with the beta expected to roll out by Q3 for the S24 series.

This update could very well be a significant leap forward in fulfilling user desires and cementing Samsung’s reputation for delivering what its consumers want most.
