New OnePlus Watch 3 Rolls Out: Big Battery Life But No Heart Monitor in US & Canada

OnePlus has officially introduced the OnePlus Watch 3, a promising successor to its previous models, enhancing user experience with a robust battery life and advanced health monitoring capabilities. However, buyers in the US and Canada will find the new smartwatch lacking a significant health feature.

An Expanded Battery Life for Extended Use

Building on the success of the OnePlus Watch 2 and OnePlus Watch 2R, the latest model boasts a larger battery promising up to five days of normal use and three days of intensive use. This improvement addresses one of the most common concerns among smartwatch users, ensuring that daily charging is not necessary, which enhances the overall user convenience and device practicality.

A Setback for North American Users: Missing ECG Feature

Despite the advancements, the OnePlus Watch 3 comes with a notable omission. The smartwatch is equipped to support ECG (electrocardiogram) readings, a vital feature for monitoring heart health. However, this function will not be available in the US and Canada at launch. The absence of FDA certification has led to the exclusion of the ECG feature in these regions, which might be a deal-breaker for users who prioritize health-tracking features in their wearable devices.

According to OnePlus’s statement to 9to5Google, the ECG Analyzer will not be included in the versions sold in these countries. Instead, the Watch 3 will offer a 60-Second Health Check-In feature, which lacks the ECG component but still provides users with quick health updates.

Pricing and Availability

For those interested in the new technology, the OnePlus Watch 3 is now available for pre-order. Priced at $329 in the US, €349 in Europe, and £319 in the UK, the smartwatch offers a competitive edge in the smart wearable market. The device will start shipping on February 25 in select countries, with broader availability, including other regions, in early March. Potential buyers are also advised to check local OnePlus websites for possible discounts that may be available with pre-orders.

No ECG? OnePlus Watch 3 Users in the US & Canada Might Be Disappointed

While the OnePlus Watch 3 marks a significant upgrade in terms of battery life and user interface, the absence of ECG functionality in the US and Canada could impact its market performance in these regions. OnePlus’s proactive communication about this limitation allows consumers to make an informed decision, weighing the benefits of extended battery life against the unavailability of complete health monitoring tools. As the wearable market continues to evolve, users are encouraged to consider what features are most crucial for their lifestyle before making a purchase.
