Apple Delays New iPhone SE Launch – Here’s What to Expect From the Budget iPhone Upgrade

Apple has announced a delay in the launch of the latest iteration of its budget-friendly iPhone SE, originally set to debut this week. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the unveiling has been pushed to next week, although a smaller announcement might still proceed as initially planned.

New iPhone SE Coming Soon – But There’s a Catch

Apple, known for its high-profile launches, had opted for a quieter reveal via its website instead of a traditional press event. This decision aligns with the company’s broader strategy as it prepares for the launch of the highly anticipated Apple Vision Pro and a new MacBook Air featuring the M4 chip.

Despite the delay, excitement continues to build around the iPhone SE refresh. The upcoming model, codenamed V59, marks a significant evolution in Apple’s entry-level smartphone lineup, which has been a favorite among budget-conscious consumers since its debut in 2016.

Advanced Features at an Affordable Price

The new iPhone SE is expected to introduce several major upgrades. According to reports, Apple will debut its first in-house cellular modem, replacing Qualcomm’s hardware. This transition is a bold step towards technological independence and improved efficiency.

Additionally, the iPhone SE is rumored to feature Face ID for the first time, eliminating the iconic physical home button. This change brings the SE closer in design and functionality to Apple’s premium lineup.

The device will also be powered by Apple’s A18 chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 series. This enhancement will support Apple’s advanced AI capabilities, ensuring a seamless and powerful user experience.

Pricing and Market Impact

The current iPhone SE starts at $429 in the US, significantly lower than the iPhone 16’s $799 entry price. This pricing strategy has allowed Apple to attract a wider customer base, particularly in markets like China and India, where affordable yet feature-rich smartphones are in high demand.

Apple’s decision to refresh the SE model comes at a crucial time, as the company recently reported a 1% decline in iPhone sales during the holiday quarter. By offering a more advanced yet affordable option, Apple aims to boost sales and maintain its competitive edge in the global smartphone market.
