Urgent Alert for Lamborghini Owners: Urgent Recall for 2023-2024 Urus Models Due to Safety Hazard

In a move affecting the integrity and safety of one of the most coveted luxury SUVs on the market, Lamborghini has announced a critical recall of its Urus model. The high-performance vehicle, celebrated for its blend of sports car agility and SUV luxury, is now under scrutiny for a defect that might lead to the hood detaching at high speeds. This recall spans the 2023 and 2024 Urus model years, including both the standard Urus S and the high-octane Urus Performante variants.

The Details Behind the Recall

The issue stems from improperly manufactured rivet studs on the hood latch strikers, which could potentially cause the hood to partially or fully detach during high-speed travel.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which published the recall notice on May 16, highlighted that air infiltrating small gaps between the hood and front fascia adds undue stress to the latch system. Over time, this could lead to complete failure of the mechanism, resulting in the hood flipping up to obscure the driver’s view or detaching entirely.

Lamborghini’s Proactive Measures

Following two separate warranty claims related to misalignment of the hood, Lamborghini initiated an investigation that led to this recall. While there have been no reported crashes or injuries linked to this defect, the potential for serious accidents prompted immediate action from the Italian automaker. Approximately 2,133 vehicles in the U.S. are affected by this issue.

Lamborghini has outlined a clear remedy for this problem, which involves a thorough inspection of the hood by dealers and, if necessary, the installation of new striker support plates at no cost to the vehicle owners. This proactive approach aims to mitigate any risks associated with the defect and ensure the safety and satisfaction of its customers.

Important Information for Urus Owners

Owners of the affected vehicles can expect to receive notification letters by June 28. However, Lamborghini encourages customers to not wait for this formal communication if they have concerns or need immediate assistance.

Vehicle owners can contact Lamborghini directly at 1-866-681-6276 for more information or reach out to the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236, referencing recall campaign number 24V348000, to learn more about the specifics of the recall and necessary steps to ensure their vehicle is safe and compliant with all safety standards.

In conclusion, while Lamborghini Urus owners bought their vehicles expecting unparalleled performance and luxury, this recall serves as a critical reminder of the importance of automotive safety and the proactive steps necessary to safeguard all road users.

Lamborghini’s swift action in addressing this flaw underscores their commitment to their customers’ safety and their reputation for excellence in the high-performance automotive market.
